GIANNIS FROUNTAS IS THE WINNER OF SAINT JAMES RHUM COCKTAILS COMPETITION!

Saint James Rhum Cocktails Competition 2022 Greek Finals took place on Wednesday 7/9, at the most fascinating environment of “Rumble in the Jungle” in Athens! With Saint James, World’s #1 Agricole Rhum we lived the most exotic experience, as being in Martinique!

Giannis Frountas from Grasshoppers Athens made a great impression to the judges (Nikos Gartzolakis Head Bartender at Baba Au Rum, Constantinos Vasilakopoulos Saint James Brand Ambassador and George Tsirikos, Co- owner of Three Cents), with his special cocktail “Balisier”!

Concept of the Competition:

Each candidate ought to propose 2 cocktail recipes, inspired by the theme:

“Your Vision of The Latest Cocktail Trends”

Since Martinique is home to a palette of exotic flowers, Giannis’s Cocktail, “Balisier”, represents a flower that grows in Martinique, the “flower island”.  It was also the emblem of Aimé Césaire, a Martinican poet and his writings about Colonialism.

This summer, the winner while being in Syros Island, he got familiar with high quality, natural, raw materials in cocktail making, and this was the trigger for him to get inspired by” farm-to-table”, a movement that promotes locally grown, and organic food.

This trend aims to highlight local products and sourcing materials from local producers. Thus, he created a cocktail with an umami flavor and used ingredients such as thyme flower, cherry tomato, and caper leaf.

Giannis Frountas, is not only the Greek Winner of the Competition but also has a chance to win a trip to Martinique and 2.000€ at the Global Finals that will take place on Monday 17/10 and Tuesday 18/10 in Paris!

The finalists of the Competition: Αpostolis Anagnostou, Dimitris Vasilakis, Constantinos Dorbarakis, Christoforos Koinas, Argiris Kontrafouris, George Liokos, Athanasios Sideris, Constantinos Tsigas and Stavros Tsinis, had an outstanding performance and inspired the judges by creating cocktails inspired by the latest trends and modern techniques.
